Anna Faris Reveals Melania Trump Joke Cut from Scary Movie 6
Anna Faris: Melania Trump Joke Cut from Scary Movie 6

Anna Faris has disclosed that a joke referencing Melania Trump was removed from the upcoming film Scary Movie 6. In an interview with Dexerto, the actress, who reprises her iconic role as Cindy Campbell, shared details about the cut scene involving the former First Lady's 2018 'Be Best' campaign.

Faris Discusses the Cut Joke

Speaking about her return to the franchise, Faris explained that she wanted Cindy to embody a certain archetype. 'I was always pushing for Cindy to be classic MAGA rabbit hole,' she said. 'The kind of person that you saw outside of the Walmart during quarantine, that was raising some kind of crazy fuss.'

The specific joke involved a moment of drunkenness in her truck. 'There was a moment where I'm getting just wasted, just so drunk — I'm in my truck, of course, and I look into the rearview mirror and I say, 'Be best, Cindy Campbell. Be best.' That didn't make it, but I liked my little winking there,' Faris revealed.

Faris on Offensive Humor

The actress defended the nature of the film's comedy, stating, 'You know, what are you gonna do? You gonna be mad at Cindy? I'm in a movie that is truly the most offensive movie ever made, and I'm the lead of it. And I participate in offensive ideas. I think I can kind of do anything. It liberated me.'

The 'Be Best' Campaign Controversy

Launched in 2018, Melania Trump's 'Be Best' initiative aimed to help children 'achieve their fullest potential' by focusing on physical and mental wellbeing and combating cyberbullying. However, the campaign faced significant criticism.

  • Hypocrisy accusations: Critics pointed out the irony of the First Lady promoting anti-cyberbullying while her husband, President Donald Trump, frequently used social media to attack opponents.
  • Grammatical errors: The slogan 'Be Best' was widely mocked for its grammatical flaws, spawning countless memes online.
  • Plagiarism allegations: Shortly after the campaign's launch, Trump was accused of plagiarism when her 'Be Best' booklet was found to contain graphics and text nearly identical to a previous publication from the Obama administration.

Despite the cut joke, Scary Movie 6 promises to deliver the franchise's signature irreverent and politically incorrect humor, with Faris leading the charge.
