Countryfile presenter Anita Rani has shared details about her romance with new boyfriend Alex Lavery, admitting she does not want to 'jinx' their relationship. The 48-year-old, who split from ex-husband Bhupi Rehal in 2023, described Alex as 'fun and fit' and a 'beautiful soul'. The couple bonded over a shared love of music, attending festivals like Green Man and Glastonbury together.
Rani revealed that she and Lavery plan to spend Christmas together this year, with an 'open-door policy' for friends. Speaking to Fabulous magazine, she expressed a desire to 'do something wild and spread some good vibes'. When asked about the possibility of remarrying, Rani said the couple are 'having a nice time' and added: 'You know, when you meet someone who's vibrant and you think: "Alright, it's on." I don't want to jinx it.'
Rani, who stars in Celebrity Race Across the World with her father Balvinder, described herself as being in a 'rad space' at the moment. She said living alone is 'liberating' and 'really important' for women to see. The presenter previously called her marriage breakdown a 'dark, very traumatic year' but said the split was amicable, with the couple simply drifting apart.
She also spoke about the challenges of divorce as a Punjabi woman, noting it is seen as 'quite a big deal' and that divorced women are often viewed as 'pariahs'. However, she has received support from many women who have approached her saying 'well done'. Rani concluded: 'Generally, any woman being in their 40s by themself is a difficult thing.'
