Former England footballer Andy Carroll, 36, has reportedly vowed to give up alcohol in a bid to salvage his relationship with girlfriend Lou Teasdale, 41, following a series of public rows during a holiday in Mykonos last month. The couple, who began dating in 2024 after Carroll's split from ex-wife Billi Mucklow, faced police involvement after heated arguments at a restaurant and a hotel on the Greek island.
According to reports, Carroll was questioned twice by local police after a dispute at a busy restaurant, where a staff member described him as 'very drunk' and 'furious' with Teasdale. A British tourist alleged Carroll shouted, 'I'm done with us.' No arrests were made, and the couple later issued a joint statement dismissing the incidents as a 'heated discussion' blown out of proportion.
In response to the turmoil, Carroll has taken steps to prove his commitment. An insider told The Sun that he stayed sober during the Glastonbury Festival, where the couple celebrated their first anniversary at a £38,000 luxury pop-up hotel. The source said: 'Andy wanted to make sure their first anniversary was special. Lou’s totally teetotal so he thought it would be nice for them to spend the weekend together sober.'
The couple were seen looking relaxed and close at the festival, one year after meeting there for the first time. The insider added: 'He knows she deserves better and wants to put any bad behaviour in the past to bed. Andy is convinced Lou is the one for him and is determined to get his act together and propose.'
