Cinema enthusiasts have been left deeply moved after the teaser for Andrew Scott's latest film Elsinore was released. Numerous viewers immediately flocked to the comments beneath the trailer to express their responses, reports the Irish Mirror.
Elsinore follows the closing months of celebrated Edinburgh-born actor Ian Charleson (portrayed by Scott) as he took on Hamlet at the National Theatre in London. Charleson embraced the part despite receiving an HIV diagnosis and delivered an unforgettable performance in the Shakespearean tragedy.
Viewers praise Scott's performance
One viewer posted: "Only Andrew Scott could bring you to tears with a trailer alone." A second wrote: "This def had me seriously tearing up [sic]."
A third commented: "oh man im ready to be devesated by andrew scott's performance in this [sic]." Yet a fourth said: "It looks like it's gonna kill me....no one destroys me like Andrew Scott.."

Even from the trailer alone, Scott delivers a deeply compelling portrayal of the Gandhi and Chariots of Fire star, as he reflects on stepping into the iconic role of Hamlet. Woven throughout are scenes of Charleson confiding in his friends and doctor about accepting the part.
Release details and production
The film boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including Oscar-winning actress Olivia Colman, Billie Piper of Doctor Who and Scoop fame, and MobLand's Johnny Flynn. Rounding out the lineup are Bridgerton's Luke Thompson, Monica Dolan from Mr Bates Vs The Post Office, David Dawson of The Last Kingdom, Sherwood's Adeel Akhtar, Slow Horses actor Kadiff Kirwan, Heartstopper's Joe Locke, Ozark's Peter Mullan and Dickie Beau.
In addition to headlining the project, Sherlock star Scott also serves as a producer. Elsinore wrapped filming earlier this year in January, and the buzz surrounding the picture had already been building well before the trailer dropped.
Elsinore will be released in UK cinemas in January 29, 2027.
