Amy Gledhill suffers 'heartbreaking' loss days before Last One Laughing return

Amy Gledhill, the celebrated British comedian and Edinburgh Comedy Award winner, has revealed the tragic loss of her father just days before the premiere of Prime Video's Last One Laughing season two.

The 38-year-old, known for her observational humour and appearances in Sex Education and Taskmaster, shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram on March 13, 2026, describing her father as "legendary" and "embarrassingly supportive."

Gledhill wrote: "I felt lucky every day to be his daughter and I felt lucky to be with him at the end. He gave me a one man standing ovation the first time he saw me do stand up. He was heartbreakingly sentimental, the most generous guy in the pub, and he was cracking jokes and making us laugh right until the end."

The comedian, who hails from Hull and now lives in London, is one of ten comedians competing in Last One Laughing, alongside David Mitchell, Diane Morgan, and Romesh Ranganathan. The first three episodes of the series are now available on Prime Video.

In 2026, Gledhill was appointed patron of Hull and East Yorkshire Mind, where she aims to use "approachable humour" to discuss mental health. She also co-hosts the podcast Single Ladies In Your Area with fellow comedian Harriet Kemsley.
