Ruben Amorim, the former Manchester United manager, has lavished praise on Everton star Iliman Ndiaye, who is now being linked with a move to Old Trafford. According to the Manchester Evening News, United have included the forward on their transfer shortlist as they seek to strengthen their left-wing options during the summer window.
Amorim's Praise for Ndiaye
Ahead of the Premier League clash between United and Everton last November, Amorim singled out Ndiaye as one of two players capable of causing significant problems for his defence. The Portuguese coach remarked: "I think [Jack] Grealish is doing really well. He can push that team, can give weight to that team. [Iliman] Ndiaye is an amazing player. So, all these things, [it] is a more complete team, and David Moyes is doing an amazing job. It's going to be really, really tough to win the game."
Everton went on to secure a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford, despite playing most of the match with 10 men after Idrissa Gana Gueye was sent off for striking former United player Michael Keane.
Ndiaye's Season and Potential
The 26-year-old Senegal international has been Everton's standout performer over two campaigns, netting six league goals and providing three assists this season. United are keen to bolster their attacking options ahead of their return to Champions League football. Ndiaye's versatility allows him to operate on either flank or as a number 10, making him an attractive prospect.
He is expected to feature for Senegal in a friendly against Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, ahead of the 2026 World Cup. A strong tournament performance could drive his asking price higher.
Transfer Market Context
With three years remaining on his Everton contract, Ndiaye could represent a more affordable option for United. The club has also registered interest in RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande and Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers. However, Diomande is firmly in Liverpool's sights, with Leipzig demanding a staggering £86 million for the 19-year-old. Rogers' future at Villa remains uncertain, with several top Premier League clubs monitoring his situation, and Villa reportedly open to offers of around £80 million.
United's Summer Plans
United are close to securing their first signing of the summer, having agreed a deal with Atalanta for Brazilian midfielder Ederson. The 26-year-old is set to join for an initial £35 million, filling the void left by Casemiro. However, Ederson's inclusion in Brazil's World Cup squad has delayed the transfer's finalisation. The club is also actively seeking at least one more midfielder, anticipating the departure of Manuel Ugarte after a frustrating two-year spell.
