Alison Hammond Reportedly Planning Wedding to Younger Beau David Putnam
This Morning presenter Alison Hammond is said to be "absolutely in love" with her younger boyfriend David Putnam, with sources revealing the couple are secretly planning their wedding. Just days after Hammond publicly declared her love for Putnam, friends have disclosed that the television star is ready to take the next step in their relationship.
Wedding Bells on the Horizon
Despite previously stating she "didn't need a ring," Alison Hammond conceded that if "David asked me tomorrow to marry him, it wouldn't be a no." According to insiders, that wish may now be coming true. Sources confirm that Hammond has already shared details of the nuptials with close friends, who report that "life has never looked better" for the 51-year-old star.
"Alison and David are planning on getting married," a source confirmed. "It's not going to be immediate, because she's never been so busy, but she's very much in love and it will happen. She's found her perfect man."
Low-Key Celebrity Affair
While celebrity friends including Dermot O'Leary and Josie Gibson are expected to attend, sources indicate Hammond will keep the celebration modest. "Alison is very real," the source explained. "She's not going to have a huge, big wedding, it'll be a few genuine celebrity friends. She's actually very modest and David shies away from the limelight. He doesn't like it."
The source added that Putnam comes from "a very different world" and Hammond appreciates his preference for privacy. "It won't be small and humble, but it certainly won't be huge because that's not his thing."
Age Gap and Family Support
Alison Hammond met masseur David Putnam, who is 22 years her junior, in 2023 when she booked him for a treatment. The 6ft 10in Russian has been dating the television personality ever since. Hammond recently addressed public fascination with their age difference, saying, "I just want people to be happy for us. We are absolutely in love."
Her son Aidan, 20, will play a significant role in the wedding ceremony. "Her son Aidan will walk her down the aisle," the source confirmed. "They're incredibly close, they've got a great relationship and he's so happy for his mum. He can see she's happy, healthy and has never looked better, so he's thrilled to see her take this next step."
Hammond shares Aidan with former fiancé Noureddine Boufaied and was relieved when her son approved of Putnam. "Thank goodness for that," she laughed about their first meeting. "Because normally Aidan hates anybody I date!"
Health and Wellness Journey
Alison Hammond has undergone a remarkable transformation, having slimmed down from 30st at her heaviest. She credits her weight loss and healthy lifestyle to working with a personal trainer, attending reformer Pilates classes, and participating in boxing sessions. Recently, she even cut down on her favourite toffees for health reasons.
"Alison has never looked better," the source said. "Her skin looks great. She's got her routine down and she's absolutely glowing. And of course she's lost an amazing amount of weight." However, the wedding dress search is currently on hold as Hammond intends to lose more weight before selecting her gown.
Overcoming Marriage Fears
The idea of marriage once terrified Alison Hammond, who admitted in 2023, "I think as soon as I hear the word marriage, I get cold feet." She explained, "I always think there's something better but get a bit nervous to know 'that is it'. I just feel like I'm tied down and I don't like it."
Now, however, she appears to have embraced settling down. "I'm getting to that age now where I think, 'Alison, let go – it's OK to settle down,'" she reflected.
Balancing Love and Career
While her love life flourishes, Alison Hammond's television career continues at full pace. Recently, she was approached to host Strictly Come Dancing following the departure of Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, but couldn't commit due to her busy schedule. She also turned down an appearance on The Celebrity Traitors for the same reason.
"I'm so busy, babes, that I'm not sure it's going to happen," Hammond told Radio Times about the Strictly opportunity. "It's unrealistic. I'm so happy they considered me but, like Traitors, I can't do it because everything clashes."
Despite these missed opportunities, Hammond remains content with her current professional commitments, which include The Great British Bake Off, new Channel 4 show Your Song, and her regular role on This Morning.
