Rapper Aitch has definitively shut down swirling rumours of a jungle romance with his I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! campmate, Shona McGarty. The 25-year-old music star, speaking after his exit from the ITV show, clarified that their close bond was purely platonic, rooted in a shared passion for music and similar personalities.
"It Was Nothing Like That": Aitch Sets the Record Straight
In an exclusive statement, Aitch addressed the speculation head-on. "Obviously, I've not watched the show, so I don't know what's been put out there in any way or anything. But it was nothing like that," he insisted. He described himself and the former EastEnders actress as being "cut from the same cloth" and sharing the "same sense of humour."
The rapper provided context for their connection, explaining that with both being involved in music, they had common ground. "Knowing that she's trying to come out of the jungle and pursue this music career - and me having a music career - it was just more like, there's only really me and Martin she can speak to about certain things," Aitch said, referencing fellow campmate Martin Roberts.
He added wryly, "And I think just because of my age, no one's going to say that she had a romance with Martin. So unfortunately, I'm the next option. So romantic? No, not at all. Not at all."
A Musical Mentor: Aitch Vows to Support Shona's Singing Career
Far from a romantic entanglement, Aitch revealed that 95% of their conversations centred on Shona McGarty's vocal talent and her aspirations in the music industry. He expressed his admiration for her voice and his intention to help her professionally.
"Yes I definitely will," he said when asked if he would introduce her to his contacts. "And that was what most of the conversations were about. I said to her: ‘You sing like a madwoman, in a good way…..you need to go pursue it. Stop being so scared to pursue it.'"
Aitch recalled how Shona would sometimes become embarrassed after singing in camp, and he was quick to offer encouragement. "Everyone's in awe of you when you're singing," he told her, concluding, "I think, 95 percent of mine and Shona's conversation is literally just about how sick of a singer she is."
How the Rumours Began and the Camp's Reaction
The speculation was ignited after Aitch confessed to campmate 'Angry' Ginge that he had "a bit of a soft spot for Shona." This comment, aired on the show, immediately caught the attention of hosts Ant and Dec.
Dec said he was "shell-shocked" by the revelation, while Ant declared, "It's been a while since we've had a proper romance on this show. We'd love to see it....we would celebrate it." Their commentary undoubtedly fuelled viewer speculation about a potential jungle relationship.
However, other sources suggested a romance was unlikely. Fellow contestant Ruby Wax previously stated that Aitch was "not her type at all," quoting Shona as saying she prefers "hunky, bigger men."
Both stars entered the jungle single. Shona McGarty had split from her musician fiancé, David Bracken, earlier in 2025, with insiders describing the separation as amicable. Aitch had also ended his relationship with Lois Cottam prior to joining the show.
