Former Love Island star Georgia Harrison has been rushed to hospital with a post-natal infection, just weeks after welcoming her first child. The 31-year-old, who gave birth to daughter Sahara Jean Stacey in October, shared an update with fans on Instagram, posting a photo of herself on a stretcher.
Harrison wrote: "It’s been a whirl wind of a week, I ended up back where Sahara was born with a nasty infection but I’m on the road to recovery now and we’re all ready for our first Christmas as a family." She also thanked her boyfriend, footballer Jack Stacey, for looking after their baby while she was unwell, calling him "the best dad".
The reality TV star, who first rose to fame on The Only Way Is Essex in 2014 before appearing on Love Island in 2017, announced the birth of Sahara in a Halloween-themed Instagram post. The video compilation showed her pregnancy journey, ending with her holding her daughter.
Harrison recently won the 2024 series of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, and said the experience helped her embrace motherhood. She told the Daily Mail: "SAS helped me learn to get up in the night, stuff like that, and just face it. I always think, no matter how hard this is, it’s never worse than some of the experiences I’ve had in the past."
Earlier this year, while heavily pregnant, Harrison was awarded an MBE for her work raising awareness about online privacy and non-consensual sharing of intimate images. She joked on Instagram about curtseying too hard in front of Prince William, and dedicated the honour to survivors of image-based abuse.
