Adele has revealed that she does not sing often anymore, giving a rare glimpse into her life with her teenage son Angelo. The 38-year-old singer admitted she is pulling back from music as she bonds with her 13-year-old son over their shared love of Formula 1.
Adele's surprise appearance at McLaren
The 'Hometown Glory' songstress stunned Formula 1 fans when she made a surprise appearance at McLaren Racing's headquarters in recent weeks. While there, she spoke with drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, the current reigning champion. In an interview with CEO Zac Brown, Adele shared her excitement and explained how Formula 1 has strengthened her relationship with her son.
Bonding with her son over karting and F1
Adele explained that Angelo had recently gotten into karting, prompting her to introduce him to Formula 1. She said she has been supporting his interests and has become obsessed herself. 'My son is really into karting and things like that,' she said. 'I don't know. He just sort of asked about it a couple of years ago and I was like, 'All right.' I don't know many teenagers who have a passion so I'm really trying to encourage it. He's obsessed but I'm also obsessed.'
She added: 'But just like when your kid has an interest, you have to lean into it. More importantly, I think you have to be interested in it. And I don't think I ever expected to bond with my soon to be 14 year-old son about something so passionately where we like argue about drivers, you know. But it's fun to have that interaction with a teenage boy in 2026, I wasn't expecting it.'
Pulling back from music
During the chat, driver Lando Norris asked Adele if she is still a fan of music and singing. She admitted she is not as active in music, revealing: 'I don't sing very often anymore.' The 'Rolling in the Deep' star also spoke candidly about how her life has changed since becoming famous, revealing the more 'ridiculous' parts of her life. She said she would never have believed she would be a singer, but would not have minded being in the music industry.
'I wanted to be an A&R. I never thought that I was the talent,' Adele revealed. 'I knew I was really good with music, which is why I thought I'd be so good at discovering new talent. It is incredibly unlikely that a girl from Tottenham is going to go on to have any kind of career in England, let alone sort of universally and stuff like that. So, it was never an option.'
