Who Is the Killer in Colors of Evil: Black?
The straightforward answer is that there was no killer in Colors of Evil: Black. The film commenced with the horrific death of Adam Ponznanski, who was shown entering a vehicle with an unidentified figure before being decapitated in woodland. It subsequently transpired that Adam was being transported somewhere when he became alarmed and opened the car door to escape, resulting in his death. Therefore, Adam's death was accidental rather than murder. This means there was no killer in Colors of Evil: Black.
The harrowing scenes depicting the decapitation showed Adam's body being disposed of rather than the actual killing itself. While the identity of Adam's travelling companion at the time of his death remains unknown, it was Nicki who was charged with disposing of the body. Nicki severed the child's head, placed it between the legs, and buried it to make the death appear as a ritualistic killing.
The Vampire Myth Connection
The burial bore striking similarities to a local vampire myth surrounding the Łopi. According to ancient tradition, children born still inside their amniotic sac were believed to be cursed. To banish any evil presence, the sac had to be removed through a ritual and fed to the child. Failure to do so meant the child would have to be killed and beheaded to prevent them from turning into a vampire.
Audiences discovered that Nicki was the illegitimate son of serial child sex abuser Chojnacki Sr., born as a result of his abuse of a 14-year-old victim. The deceased meat magnate had been preying on numerous children from the church choir, with his crimes subsequently concealed by locals who gradually uncovered the truth. Nicki's troubled upbringing had left him mentally unstable, which ultimately drove him to kidnap Piotrus.
At the very beginning of the film, it was also disclosed that Piotrus had been born still inside his amniotic sac — a detail Nicki had overheard in the restaurant when he smashed a plate, and his motivation for the abduction. Fortunately, Piotrus was rescued in time and the town's generational trauma and cover-up were finally brought to light.
Colors of Evil: Black is streaming on Netflix now.
