Olympic champion Adam Peaty's stag weekend in Budapest, intended as a carefree celebration ahead of his wedding to Holly Ramsay, dramatically descended into chaos, culminating in a police arrest and a deepening family rift.
Stag Do Descends Into Threats and Arrest
The 30-year-old swimmer's lads' trip took a severe turn when he allegedly received what sources describe as "increasingly abusive and threatening" text messages. The situation became so alarming that his fiancée, Holly Ramsay, alerted the police.
Subsequently, on November 11, 2025, Staffordshire Police arrested Adam's 34-year-old brother, James Peaty, at his home in Uttoxeter on suspicion of harassment. A police spokesperson confirmed the man was released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.
The disturbance was significant enough that a shaken Adam was met by police officers upon his return to Manchester Airport, over concerns for his safety.
A Deep-Rooted Family Conflict
This incident is not an isolated one but part of a broader, painful family dispute. A source indicated that Adam believes his mother, Caroline, has been enabling James's alleged behaviour. This feud has already led to Caroline being banned from the couple's upcoming Christmas Day wedding at Bath Abbey.
Further compounding the tension, Adam's father, Mark, was notably absent from the stag do. Mark Peaty has since spoken out, telling The Sun that the conflict between his sons has "got out of hand" and expressing concern over a lack of empathy towards Jamie's mental health difficulties.
Adam's sister, Bethany, is now understood to be the only family member from his side who will attend the wedding.
Gordon Ramsay Steps Into the Fray
In stark contrast to the absence of Adam's own father, his future father-in-law, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, was a central figure during the Budapest stag weekend. Reports suggest that Ramsay is determined nothing will "ruin his beloved daughter’s wedding" and is prepared to use his top PR machine to manage the situation.
Gordon Ramsay's prominent role has likely intensified the hurt felt by Adam's mother, Caroline, who was also not invited to Holly's hen do at Soho Farmhouse. This snub was publicly highlighted by Adam's aunt, Louise Williams, in a social media message directed at the bride-to-be.
The ongoing drama casts a long shadow over what was planned to be a grand festive celebration, leaving the Olympic star navigating turbulent personal waters just weeks before saying 'I do'.
