Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty's stag weekend in Budapest took a dramatic turn after his older brother James was arrested on suspicion of harassment. The 34-year-old was taken into custody at his home in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, following a series of allegedly abusive and threatening text messages sent to Peaty during the celebrations.
Peaty, 30, who is set to marry Gordon Ramsay's daughter Holly next month, was met by police at Manchester Airport upon his return amid fears he could be assaulted. A friend told The Sun: 'Things escalated over the weekend when someone became increasingly abusive and threatening over text. Adam was trying to enjoy his stag do and was getting freaked out by it all.'
The incident is the latest in a long-running family feud. Peaty's mother Caroline has reportedly been banned from the wedding, and his father Mark was absent from the stag do. Mark told The Sun: 'They're brothers, they've always been close, but like any normal family, brothers fight, argue, fall out, make up and start all over again. But it's got out of hand, there's been very little empathy towards Jamie's genuine mental health difficulties.'
Staffordshire Police confirmed: 'We arrested a 34-year-old man, from the Uttoxeter area, on November 11, 2025, on suspicion of harassment. The man was released on conditional bail while our enquiries continue.'
Despite the turmoil, future father-in-law Gordon Ramsay attended the stag do and is reportedly determined to ensure the wedding goes ahead without disruption. An insider told Mail Online that Ramsay will engage his 'top PR machine' to protect his daughter's big day.
