Olympic Swimmer Seeks Refuge Amid Family Turmoil
British swimming champion Adam Peaty has taken shelter at his future father-in-law's London residence as a bitter family dispute surrounding his upcoming wedding to Holly Ramsay reached new heights on Thursday evening. The triple Olympic gold medallist made a late-night dash to the south London home shared by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and his wife Tana following the dramatic arrest of his older brother.
Brother Questioned Over Alleged Threats
James Peaty, Adam's 34-year-old brother, was detained by police and questioned for two days regarding allegations he sent a barrage of verbal threats to the swimmer while he was celebrating his stag weekend in Budapest. The builder, who previously helped Adam renovate his home, was released on conditional bail while investigations continue.
A family source revealed the depth of the rift, telling the Daily Mail: "The boys have always been close, and Jamie even helped Adam renovate his house. They've always got on, but Adam has changed with his new celebrity lifestyle and family."
Wedding Plans Thrown Into Chaos
The decorated athlete, 30, is scheduled to marry Ramsay's eldest daughter, 25, in a lavish ceremony at Bath's Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul next month. However, the ongoing conflict has seen Peaty's working-class parents claim they cannot afford to attend the wedding, with his mother Caroline being formally uninvited from the Christmas celebrations.
Peaty was forced to cancel his appearance at a two-day training clinic in Orlando, Florida with young swimmers from his AP Race company this weekend. Despite his company website maintaining he would attend, sources confirm he has remained in the UK following his brother's arrest.
The situation escalated further when Peaty reportedly required a significant police escort at Manchester airport upon returning from his stag celebrations in Hungary. Staffordshire Police confirmed they arrested a 34-year-old man from the Uttoxeter area on November 11th on suspicion of harassment.
Mark Peaty, Adam's father, expressed his distress about the situation: "They're brothers. They've always been close but like any normal family, brothers fight, argue, fall out, make-up and start all over again. But it's got out of hand."
With Gordon Ramsay currently working in Ireland and Holly remaining in London to fulfil work commitments, the family feud shows no signs of resolution as the wedding date approaches.
