British Woman Dies After Hotel Buttock Injection in US

A 20-year-old British woman has died after receiving an illegal buttock enhancement injection in a hotel room near Philadelphia, US police have confirmed.

Claudia Adusei, from London, travelled to the United States for the procedure, which was allegedly arranged over the internet. She received a silicone injection at a Hampton Inn hotel near Philadelphia International Airport on Monday and died in hospital on Tuesday.

Police are questioning a woman believed to have helped arrange the appointment and are searching for the person who performed the injection. A search warrant was executed at a home in Bergen County, New Jersey, but no arrests have been made.

Liquid silicone is not approved for cosmetic injections in the US and is banned in many other countries. Plastic surgeon Paul Harris of the Royal Marsden Hospital in London warned that such procedures carry serious risks, including pulmonary embolism, a blood clot to the lungs.

Ms Adusei's companion also underwent a hip augmentation during the same visit. The medical examiner has yet to release autopsy results.
