Abbie Chatfield Sued by Former Best Friend Over Bikini Photo Claims

Abbie Chatfield, the former Bachelor star and podcaster, is being sued for defamation by her former best friend Heath Kelley over an Instagram story she posted to her 581,000 followers. The lawsuit was filed in the Federal Court of Australia, as exclusively revealed by Daily Mail.

The legal action comes just hours after Chatfield, 30, was seen enjoying a beach outing in Bondi with her boyfriend Adam Hyde. She wore a pink flower and animal print bikini with a blue velvet skirt, while Hyde went topless in black swim trunks. The couple appeared relaxed, carrying beach bags and towels.

Kelley, a former Virgin Australia guest services officer and law student, was once described by Chatfield as 'my best friend of ten years'. In May 2025, Chatfield allegedly posted defamatory remarks about Kelley in an Instagram story that expired after 24 hours. The exact content of the post has not yet been revealed in court.

The case was first filed in September at the Federal Court's NSW registry, and no initial directions hearing has been scheduled. Chatfield has not yet filed a defence or appointed legal representatives, according to court records.

Chatfield rose to fame on The Bachelor and has since appeared on Bachelor in Paradise Australia, I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!, and hosted Love Island Afterparty Australia and FBoy Island. She has also faced criticism for her outspoken political views.
