Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the 33-year-old actor known for his role in Kick-Ass, has reportedly been formally offered the role of James Bond, succeeding Daniel Craig. A source told The Sun that the part is his if he chooses to accept it. The latest Bond film was delayed due to Hollywood strikes, but a script is now in development.
Taylor-Johnson was in contention for the iconic spy role alongside other notable names, including James Norton, Idris Elba, and Oscar winner Cillian Murphy. Born in Buckinghamshire in 1990, he trained at the Jackie Palmer Stage School in drama, jazz, singing, and acrobatics before starting his career with a small role in the 2002 film Tom and Thomas.
His early work included appearances in The Apocalypse, The Bill, Dead Cool, The Illusionists, and the teen comedy Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging. He gained recognition in 2009 for playing John Lennon in Nowhere Boy, directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, whom he married three years later. The couple have four daughters.
Taylor-Johnson's most memorable role came in 2010 as Dave Lizewski in Kick-Ass, followed by its sequel. He has since appeared in major films such as Anna Karenina, played Quicksilver in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and won a Golden Globe for his performance in Nocturnal Animals. His net worth is estimated at $20 million (approximately £16 million).
Upcoming projects for 2024 include Kraven the Hunter, The Fall Guy, Rothko, and Nosferatu. If he takes on the Bond role, his net worth is expected to increase significantly, given that Daniel Craig reportedly earned £20 million for his final Bond film, No Time to Die.
