Former Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver was left in a 'panic' and needed medics after cutting her finger during her Celebrity MasterChef appearance. The actress, known for playing Eileen Grimshaw, sliced her right index finger with a sharp Japanese knife while chopping a salad on the show.
Accident on day one
According to The Sun, Sue had the accident while preparing food, and medics stepped in to treat her. She is reported to have said: "Oh, plaster already. I’ve cut myself. It didn’t take long. I nearly cut my finger off, and it’s only day one." She added: "I’m panicking a bit."
Judge Giorgio Locatelli commented: "That’s a Japanese knife. It’s a very sharp one." Fellow judge Grace Dent, a self-described Corrie fan, said: "I'm a massive Corrie fan. This is like meeting The Queen!"
Return to screens
Sue left Coronation Street last year after 25 years, with her final scenes airing on June 6, 2025, as Eileen headed to Thailand. Last month, she announced her return to TV on Instagram, sharing a promo photo with the caption: "Coming soon to BBC."
Her episode airs next Tuesday (September 1) on BBC One, where she will compete against Una Healy, Melvin Odoom, Lauren Steadman, and Max Fosh in the final set of heats.
