Rutherford's department store in Morpeth has confirmed the date for the reveal of its annual Christmas window display: Saturday, November 14, at 3pm. The unveiling will be followed by the town's Christmas lights switch-on at 5pm.
A festive tradition in Morpeth
The store, located at Sanderson Arcade in the town centre, has drawn large crowds for its window reveal in previous years. Last year's display proved particularly popular, with many people gathering to watch the curtain drop.
The event is part of a wider festive programme in Morpeth that day, including the Christmas lights switch-on, funfair rides on Bridge Street, and performances from local school choirs, the Rock Choir, The Overthinkers and Ellington Colliery Brass Band. Santa is also expected to attend.
Beyond Fenwick's
While Fenwick's remains the most famous Christmas window display in the region, Rutherford's has often been praised for having a display 'better than Fenwick's.' The Morpeth store is one of several across the North East that consistently invest effort in their festive windows.
