Richard Osman has suggested that Prince Harry could build a media career and appear on BBC's The Wheel, following his "very good" appearance on a podcast during his July visit to the UK. The comments come as Harry and Meghan Markle are anticipated to return to the UK before the end of August.
Osman's career advice for Harry
Speaking on The Rest Is Entertainment, Osman said: "I saw him on the Joe Marler podcast. He's very good on things like that. And I think you could build a fairly nice media career for Harry where he just appears on television every now and again."
He added: "If I was his advisor, and I can exclusively reveal that I'm not, I'd have him meeting people."
Osman then proposed a specific role for Harry, suggesting he would be ideally suited to appearing on Michael McIntyre's The Wheel. The game show, presented by comedian McIntyre, features seven celebrities positioned around a wheel, each offering expertise in a particular subject area. It broadcasts on BBC on Saturday evenings.
Harry's Special Forces pitch
Richard said: "I'd put him on The Wheel tomorrow, with Michael McIntyre. He'd be great on The Wheel. Michael would look after him, he'd look good if he got something right, he'd look self-depreciating if he got something wrong. I wouldn't put him on The Traitors or I'm A Celebrity or something like that."
On a creative streak, Richard then pitched his own television concept for Harry - a programme called Harry's Special Forces, which he characterised as a fusion between DIY SOS and the beloved 1990s game show Challenge Anneka.
Elaborating on the idea, he said: "I've got a show called Harry's Special Forces. It's like DIY SOS meets Challenge Anneka. It is exactly that thing of a house needs rebuilding, a community centre needs rebuilding."
"But he does it with a bunch of army veterans, people who have been injured in the line of conflict. And they build something and put something together. At the same time he's showing these veterans, they're putting their skills out there for employers, it's feel-good."
Return to the UK and upcoming commitments
The former working royals have registered their children at school and are expected to remain in the UK "for an extended period of time". Speculation has shifted to what the couple will pursue professionally. Meghan has been rumoured to be returning to acting, with a part in Guy Ritchie's Netflix series The Gentlemen reportedly under consideration.
Harry's diary for September already includes several charitable commitments in Britain. He will be present at the WellChild Awards in London, continuing his longstanding support for the occasion, which honours the bravery of seriously ill children.
The Invictus Games will also return to the UK next summer, with Birmingham selected as the host city. It is understood the family may establish a base in the Cotswolds, where they are thought to have friends.
