Name the Football Star is a weekly football quiz designed to bring some cheer to boring Mondays back at work. Star Gold premium subscribers can test their football knowledge by identifying famous stars from the beautiful game.
The challenge: all you have to go off is the player's Wikipedia profile and their senior career clubs. The only clues given are the list of clubs, number of appearances, and number of goals scored—essentially the information on the right-hand side of their Wikipedia page. However, you won't be privy to their nationality or position.
Quiz Format and Rules
Can you identify the five footballers just by perusing their Wikipedia column? This week among the answers there's a striker who loved a goal in a big match, a Premier League title winner who is one of his country's best players of all time, and two players involved in one of the most controversial goals in English football history.
To bag all five points, simply type in the name of the player you believe it is. But watch out, any misspellings will result in a fail for that question. In this instance you'll need both their first name and surname to get a correct answer.
