Families across Wales are remembering loved ones who have passed away, with funeral notices published this week. The notices include details of services, cremations, and donations in memory of those who have died.
Funeral and memorial services
Among those remembered is Edwina Aylett (Evans), formerly of Ffynnonlas, Crugybar, who died peacefully on 18 July at Stretton Care Home, Hereford, aged 78. A funeral service will be held at Hereford Crematorium on 19 August, with a memorial service at Crugybar Chapel on Tuesday 25 August at 2pm. Donations are welcome towards Alzheimer's Research UK.
Lynette Banks (née Maynard) of Tan-y-Bryn, Wern Road, Rhosesmor, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on 30 July, aged 70. Her funeral service is at Northop Crematorium on Wednesday 26 August at 2pm. Family flowers only, with donations to Almost Home Dogs Rescue and North West Cancer Research.
Russell Barnes of Ty Cwmgwendraeth Care Home, Llanelli, died peacefully on 23 July. His funeral is on Friday 28 August at Llanelli Crematorium at 9am.
Long lives remembered
Cecilia Phyllis Barton (Green) passed away on 7 August at Elmside Care Home, Hitchin, aged 96. After more than 50 years in Lampeter, she moved to Hitchin in 2016. Cremation is at 1pm on Friday 4 September at North Hertfordshire Crematorium, with an interment service at St Peters Church Lampeter at a later date.
Rachel Magwen Davies died on 4 August, aged 91. A burial service takes place at Northern Cemetery (Manor Park, Cardiff) on Friday 4 September at 11:30am, followed by a service at Heath Evangelical Church at 12:45pm. Donations may go to Mission Aviation Fellowship UK.
Joan Wyn Gibson passed away peacefully on 5 August at Hafan Cefni, Llangefni, aged 99. Her public service is at Bangor Crematorium on Wednesday 26 August at 11am. Donations are accepted towards Marie Curie and Hafan Cefni Carers.
Community figures and tributes
Emlyn Griffiths, former Senior Partner at Griffith, Williams & Co, died peacefully on 30 July at Alltwen Hospital, Tremadog, aged 84. A public funeral service is at Capel Siloh, Chwilog on Friday 28 August at 11am, followed by a service at Bangor Crematorium at 1:30pm. Donations may go to Bryn Beryl League of Friends, Hafod Hedd and Tir Dewi.
Stephen Mark Draper (Dappa), a First Cymru bus driver, passed away on 6 August at his home in Birchgrove, Swansea, aged 62. A private service will take place in his memory.
David Anthony Davison, involved in building many homes in the Liverpool area, died recently. His service is at Chester Crematorium on Tuesday 25 August at 10am. Donations will go equally to Hope House and the RNLI in Flint.
Reg Upton of Carmarthen, remembered for his business Jolemor, football coaching, and membership of the Round Table, Rotary Club and Chamber of Trade, died at home on 31 July. His funeral is on Saturday 5 September at St Peter's Church, Carmarthen at 11am, with donations to Marie Curie.
In memoriam and acknowledgements
In memoriam notices include Peter Bower (14 years), John Paul Gillies (8 years), Maria Jones, Norma June O'Brien (née Preece), and Noel Parkin. Birthday memoriams were published for Paul Johnson (50th heavenly birthday) and Douglas (Pops) Price.
