Penalty shoot-out drama in Vienna
Hearts trailed 1-0 before fighting back to force extra time, where the hosts scored a dramatic leveller to take the game to a shoot-out. Pierre Landry Kabore and Calvin Miller scored in the penalty shoot-out, while Beau Reus saved two spot-kicks. Former Celtic player Marco Tilio missed the decisive penalty.
Social media dig at Celtic
After the win, Hearts posted on X: "Winning play-offs in Austria isn’t for everyone.." The message was widely seen as a dig at Celtic, who had lost 5-1 to LASK in their own European tie. Hearts had been pipped to the Premiership title by Celtic on the final day of last season.
