Country music legend Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80. The singer-songwriter's career spanned decades and included Grammy wins, film roles and, later in life, a musical inspired by her life.
Health Struggles Revealed Days Before Death
Parton shared an update on Friday amid ongoing health issues just days before her death. When speaking to People, she said, “I am dealing with some health issues that I just didn’t pay attention to when I was watching over Carl.”
“It’s not like I haven’t been through hard times with my health,” she said, noting that in the early 1980s she was “down for several months with female issues.” The singer, who suffered with endometriosis, underwent a hysterectomy in the 1980s.
Husband's Death and Family Announcement
Parton was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Thomas Dean, who died in March 2025. Her nephew, Brian Seaver, revealed the news in a heartbreaking Instagram video on Tuesday.
