A woman has been rushed to hospital after reporting she was raped in broad daylight at a popular UK park. Police discovered the injured woman at Sandwell Valley Country Park in the West Midlands on Monday at approximately 10:15am. She was taken to hospital for assessments following the reported rape.
Victim Receives Specialist Support
The woman has been supported by specially trained officers since being discharged from hospital. West Midlands Police is now appealing for any witnesses who were in Sandwell Valley Country Park between 8am and 11am on the day of the incident.
Police Investigation Underway
Detective Inspector Phil Griffiths said: “In the last three weeks officers have been reviewing CCTV footage from around Sandwell Valley Country Park, examining forensic evidence, and speaking to anyone who may have vital information about what happened.” He added: “Neighbourhood officers have been patrolling the area since the incident and specialist officers will be revisiting the park today to speak to anyone who may have information.”
Appeal for Information
Griffiths urged the public: “We know the park would have been busy on a Monday morning with people enjoying the sunshine. We need to hear from you if you saw anything that was suspicious. If you have any information you should report it on 101 quoting 20/304639/26.”
