Emma Russell has been handed a letter of commendation after finding a two-year-old girl walking alone on a busy road in Stretford.
Trafford Police said that Emma Russell had found the toddler walking alone on Edge Lane in Stretford on July 17 this year. The child had walked away from her home through an open door while her mother was searching for her, the force said.
Quick thinking praised
Upon finding the girl, Emma immediately contacted police and stayed at the scene with the young girl, keeping her safe until officers arrived. She has now been handed a letter of commendation from the Trafford district in recognition of her actions.
Police thank Emma
PC Thomas Green, who attended the incident, said: “Emma's calm and responsible response played an important part in ensuring the little girl remained safe and could be reunited with her worried family as quickly as possible.
“Emma's actions demonstrate the difference that members of the public can make by looking out for one another and taking action when someone needs help.
“Thank you, Emma, for your compassion and community spirit.”
