Woman, 28, found dead in her seat after Volaris flight lands

A 28-year-old woman was found dead in her seat on a Volaris flight after the aircraft landed at Tapachula International Airport in Chiapas, southern Mexico. Fellow passengers in her row realised she had not stirred when it came time to disembark and raised the alarm after she failed to respond to attempts to rouse her.

The woman was identified as Abidai López Solís. Her body was removed from the plane after medics confirmed she showed no vital signs. Emergency personnel came aboard, examined her, and confirmed she had died. Airport crews were deployed while prosecutors oversaw the official removal of her body.

Flight landed as scheduled

The Volaris flight, number 3358, had touched down as scheduled, with no emergency landing and no medical alert reported during the journey. Passengers had already begun leaving when Abidai was discovered lifeless in her seat. The aircraft touched down in the early hours of Wednesday, October 7.

Abidai had embarked in Tijuana and was en route to Tapachula International Airport in Chiapas when she passed away. She was heading back to the region to visit relatives, as reported by NeedToKnow.

Death attributed to natural causes

Her body was subsequently transported for a post-mortem examination. Forensic examinations attributed her death to cardiorespiratory arrest and determined it resulted from natural causes. Her relatives identified her at the state prosecutor's office in Chiapas on Thursday.

She hailed from Acacoyagua in Chiapas State, and family members had her body transported back to the municipality for burial. The prosecutor's office has yet to release the post-mortem findings. No criminal activity has been suggested as enquiries remain ongoing. The airline is yet to release a statement regarding the passenger's unexpected death.
