Northumbria Police are investigating a hit-and-run in Walker that left two teenagers seriously injured late on Tuesday night. The incident occurred shortly after 11pm on Churchill Mews in the St Peter's Basin area.
Police statement
A police spokesperson said: "It was reported that a car had collided with a Sur-Ron motorcycle and subsequently left the scene. Emergency services attended and two people – a boy aged 17 and an 18-year-old man - were taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries."
Scene and diversions
A large police presence remains in the area, with a cordon in place on Glasshouse Street. The road is closed from just before St Lawrence Road to past Bottlehouse Street. Local buses, including the 18 service, are on diversion.
