Summer Rose Miles, a 17-year-old from Top Valley, Nottingham, died on July 12 after suffering a catastrophic brain haemorrhage. She was 17 weeks pregnant. Her planned gender reveal party had been scheduled for July 11, the day after she collapsed.
Collapse and emergency response
On July 9, Summer collapsed at home. An air ambulance critical care team arrived, and she was taken to hospital. There, on life support, she delivered her baby, who was stillborn. Emergency surgery followed, but the damage to her brain stem was irreparable. Her family had to say goodbye.
Family's grief and fundraiser
Her older sister, Chloe Jade, 27, spoke exclusively to The Mirror. She described Summer as 'brave, fearless and bold.' Chloe said: 'She couldn't wait to be a mum. She has said this since I remember her playing with dollies.' Summer's parents, Mandy and Scott Miles, are now planning a funeral for both Summer and her baby.
Chloe launched a GoFundMe page to help with funeral costs. In an emotional message, she wrote: 'No parent should ever have to bury their child, especially a 17-year-old daughter and her baby.'
Summer's life and personality
Summer excelled at college, where she met her boyfriend Carson. According to Chloe, pregnancy changed her: 'She had a different light about it — it was beautiful.' Summer loved spending time with her niece Ava, riding horses, and listening to drum and bass. She also enjoyed swimming with her dad and cheering him on at football.
Chloe recalled a recent family outing: 'We went to a Coldplay and Oasis tribute a few weeks back and she sang her heart out to Coldplay with us and it was so special.'

Chloe said doctors described the brain haemorrhage as 'spontaneous, tragic and rare, especially in her age and pregnancy.' Summer was otherwise fit and healthy.
