Stretford park taped off after teen girl sexually assaulted

Police have cordoned off parts of a park in a UK town as they investigate an alleged sexual assault on a teenage girl. Some areas of Victoria Park in Stretford, Greater Manchester, were closed to the public on Tuesday night, July 21, as police attended the scene.

Officers called to park at around 6pm

Officers were called to the scene at around 6pm after a report that a teenage girl was sexually assaulted inside the park. Greater Manchester Police taped off a walkway and one area of woodland, pictures from the scene show.

Yesterday, the force said an investigation is underway and that the alleged victim is being supported by officers. No arrests have yet been made.

Police statement on investigation

A statement from GMP said: "Greater Manchester Police is investigating a report of sexual assault that occurred shortly before 6pm today (21/07/2026) in Victoria Park, Stretford.

"No arrests have been made at this time. However, the victim is being supported and detectives are following up multiple lines of enquiry to piece together the full circumstances."
