Video footage has emerged showing three members of the Sayers family allegedly becoming involved in a violent clash after a feud with another family. The incident took place outside a bar owned by Thomas Sayers.
A group of people were socialising outside the bar when a Ford pickup, with links to the Freeman organised crime group, slowly drove towards the scene before pulling up.
Alleged attack on the vehicle
As the vehicle approached, Thomas Sayers spotted it and called “da”. When it stopped, the footage allegedly shows Stephen Sayers Snr approach it and throw glass towards the passenger window as the car jolts forward.
Other people then also appear to throw glasses, bottles and punches at the car, which reverses up the road with people chasing it before driving forward back past the bar.
Additional angle from bus footage
Footage from a bus shows the incident from another angle, with the car reversing away from the bar then narrowly avoiding hitting a man as it drives forwards.
Stephen Sayers, 61, Stephen Sayers Jnr, 33, Thomas Sayers, 31, Anthony Brown, 24, Lee Jamieson, 22, and Bradley Fraser, 26, all deny violent disorder and are standing trial at Newcastle Crown Court.
Trial continues
Jurors were told none of them will be giving evidence in the case. The trial continues.
