Perth explosion: Huge fireball tears through industrial estate

Shocking footage has captured the moment a huge explosion tore through an industrial estate in Perth. The alarm was raised around 1pm on Thursday, October 8 when officers were alerted to a fire at North Muirton Industrial Estate on Arran Road. Emergency services, including police and fire crews, raced to the scene.

Massive fireball caught on video

Four fire engines, a high reach vehicle, and special resources raced to the building as crews began a tireless fight to bring the flames under control. It is understood emergency services remain in attendance this evening.

A video taken at the site, and shared with the Record, shows a massive fireball erupting into the air as the blaze grows more aggressive. A plume of thick, black smoke and bright, angry, orange flames billow into the sky. The mushroom of heat is observed by shocked residents who have gathered nearby to watch the horror unfold. The onlookers exclaim "what the f***?!" and run for cover as the fire continues burning just yards away.

No casualties reported

The surrounding streets have been locked down by police and the public have been urged to steer clear of the area. No one is believed to have been hurt and the cause of the fire is not yet known.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Arran Road in Perth has re-opened following a fire at a premises within the industrial estate, reported around 1.10pm on Thursday, October 8.

"Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. No injuries were reported. The fire is not being treated as suspicious."

Emergency services remain at scene

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 1.08pm on Thursday, October 8 to reports of fire affecting a building near Arran Road, Perth.

"Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances, a high reach vehicle and special resources to the scene, where crews worked to extinguish the fire and make the area safe. There were no reported casualties."
