Cherie Walker was found guilty of one count of enabling child sexual abuse and six counts of child neglect in Muskogee County, Oklahoma, for forcing her 11-year-old daughter to give birth to her husband's baby at home without prenatal care or medical assistance.
Jury recommends life sentence
The jury recommended a life sentence on each count. Formal sentencing will occur at a later date. Testimony from emergency responders, law enforcement, medical professionals, Department of Human Services employees, church members, and family members was heard over four days before the verdict.
Investigation and abuse details
An investigation began in August 2025 after authorities learned of the 11-year-old giving birth at Walker's home. Prosecutors alleged the mother knew her husband Dustin Walker was sexually abusing their daughter and failed to protect her. DNA testing identified Dustin as the father.
Dustin Walker pleaded guilty to one count of sexual abuse of a child under 12 and six counts of child neglect on March 26. He was sentenced to life in prison for sexual abuse, with consecutive terms for child neglect.
Prosecutor comments on trauma
Assistant District Attorney Janet Hutson said: "This child is traumatized. She's been through a horrific ordeal. Not only has somebody gotten her pregnant, but she gave birth at home without medical assistance, and this will be her life for the rest of her life."
