A man has been rescued after falling onto the roof of LIPA Sixth Form College in Liverpool city centre this morning (Monday). Emergency services were called to Upper Duke Street following reports of a man falling from a height.
Emergency Response
Fire crews were alerted at 9.18am and arrived five minutes later, with one fire engine and a crane. They found the man conscious and breathing in an enclosed room on the rooftop. Crews coordinated with North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) colleagues, and the man was moved to a secure area on the roof.
Rescue and Injury
NWAS examined the man and confirmed he sustained a leg injury. The fire service brought him safely to ground level using a basket stretcher and the crane. He will be taken to hospital, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Ongoing Closure
Merseyside Police are assisting with a road closure, and an outer cordon is in place. The fire service advises people to stay away from the area until cordons are lifted. Images from the scene show firefighters accessing the roof via the crane, with a police cordon set up on Upper Duke Street at the junction with Hope Street.
