Man arrested and dogs seized after Maesteg dog attacks

A 38-year-old man from Bridgend has been arrested and dogs have been seized following a series of dog attacks in Maesteg last month. The arrest comes after a number of incidents on the path behind Railway Terrace in the Caerau area, where three off-lead XL Bully-type dogs attacked walkers and their dogs.

Attacks on walkers

A local man was left seriously injured when defending his partner and his dog from an attack. The man and a woman were walking at around 7am on a Saturday morning. Another man's dog tragically died from injuries sustained in a separate attack the evening before.

Arrest and investigation

South Wales Police say dogs were seized from the property. The man has been released under investigation as police enquiries continue.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "Earlier today, following reports of two dog attacks reported in September, a warrant was conducted. A man, aged 38, from Bridgend, was arrested in connection and dogs were seized from the property. The man has been released under investigation and enquiries are ongoing."
