A nine-year-old girl has died following a two-vehicle collision on the A813 in the Highlands. Police Scotland are appealing for information after the crash, which happened at around 5.30pm on Wednesday.
Collision details
Emergency services, including an air ambulance, attended the scene between Drumnadrochit and Cannich. The collision involved a Volkswagen Polo and a Ford Ranger. The girl, who was a rear passenger in the VW Polo, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Injuries and road closure
The driver of the VW Polo and a front seat passenger were taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment. The road was closed for seven hours to allow enquiries to be carried out.
Police appeal
Sergeant Kate Finlayson said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the girl who died, and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or the vehicles prior to contact us. I would also ask anyone who was in the area and who may have dashcam footage that could assist to please get in touch.”
