A 15-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by three men in Lucknow, India, after being lured into a car under the pretense of going for a ride. Police said the men abandoned the teenager outside her home after the assault on Monday, July 20. The three men were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the incident, and the investigation is ongoing. It has not been confirmed whether the accused had any relation to the teenager.
Details of the assault
According to officers, the teenager stated in her testimony that one of the accused persuaded her to accompany him for a car ride. During the journey, she was allegedly taken to a room and sexually assaulted by the three men. Police launched an investigation that led to the arrests and seized the vehicle used to transport the teen to the room, as reported by The Times of India.
Investigation and evidence
Investigators collected forensic evidence, examined witness accounts, and evaluated the sequence of events leading up to the alleged assault. The 15-year-old was sent for a medical examination after her statement was recorded. Naveen Kumar Singh, the additional deputy commissioner of police, said that evidence found, including medical findings and the victim’s statement, is being incorporated into the police investigation. The case is being treated as a priority because the victim is a minor, Mr Singh added.
