Family tribute to mum of four killed in Devon plane crash

The family of Nicola Wright, a 44-year-old mother of four who died in a light aircraft crash near Dunkeswell airfield in Devon on Friday, June 26, have paid tribute to her as an "amazing, deeply devoted and loving mother."

Details of the crash

Emergency services, including the fire service and a Devon Air Ambulance, were dispatched to the scene at approximately 10am. The Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) and Devon and Cornwall Police are conducting inquiries. There were no other passengers aboard the aircraft at the time. An AAIB spokesperson stated: "An accident at Dunkeswell Airfield involving a light aircraft has been notified to the AAIB. An investigation has been launched."

Tribute from the family

In a statement released through Devon Live, the family said: "Nicola was an incredible mother to her four children, a wife, daughter, sister and much-loved friend to many. She was the heart of the family and will be missed beyond words." They described her as "a positive, brave and determined person who lived life with an adventurous spirit."

Nicola's accomplishments

Nicola was an accomplished aerobatic pilot, skydiver, diver and mountaineer who climbed Mount Kilimanjaro earlier this year. She was also HR Director at Medisave, a global medical and pharmaceutical distributor, and was instrumental in building the company alongside her husband Graham Wright and longtime friend Melissa Denton. The family added: "Nicola was an amazing, deeply devoted and loving mother. Her four young children were everything to her, and she has shaped who they are in every way, they are devastated for the loss of their beautiful mother."

Nicola's relatives have requested privacy during this difficult period and appealed for people to refrain from speculating about the circumstances surrounding the crash while the AAIB's enquiries remain ongoing.
