Former Celtic Prospect Dies Suddenly
Ryan Caird, a former Celtic and Scotland youth footballer, has died suddenly at the age of 29. The promising midfielder, who played for Celtic's under-19s and the Scotland under-16 squad, passed away unexpectedly last week. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.
Early Career and Club Tributes
Caird, originally from Cambuslang, transferred from Cathkin Secondary School to St Ninian's High School in Kirkintilloch to train with Celtic. He was released by the club at 17 and later joined Cambuslang Rangers. The club led tributes on Facebook, stating: "It's with great sadness that we share the passing of former player Ryan Caird. Ryan was a local Cambuslang boy and former Celtic and Cambuslang Rangers player. Our thoughts are with parents, family and friends at this incredibly sad time. Rest Easy Cairdy."
Family and Friends Pay Heartfelt Tributes
Ryan's mother, Allison Clements, said: "My beautiful boy, we are heartbroken." Cousin Jamie Carlin wrote: "Rest easy to my big cousin. I honestly can't believe writing this, absolutely shocked and devastating news... Keep an eye on the family up there... Love you always and forever. Only one Ryan Caird." Kirsty Mcfall added: "I actually can't believe I'm writing this! Ryan Caird, RIP. We used to call each other brother and sister, I'm devastated that you're gone. You weren't even 30 years old, I will never forget you."
