Gwent Police have arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with a series of incidents where individuals were reportedly shot at with a pellet gun or BB gun in the Caerphilly area. The arrests come after numerous reports, primarily from the town centre, over the past two days.
Arrest and Charges
The suspect, from the Llanbradach area, was taken into custody on Tuesday on suspicion of assault and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He is currently being questioned by officers. In addition to the arrest, police have seized a car as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police Investigation
A Gwent Police spokesperson confirmed that the force had received multiple reports of an individual using a BB gun or pellet gun around Caerphilly, particularly in the town centre. Officers have spoken to several people and conducted enquiries in the area. The police are urging anyone with information that could assist the investigation to come forward.
In a statement, Gwent Police said: "We have had a number of reports of someone using a BB gun or a pellet gun around the Caerphilly area, largely around the town centre, over the last two days. Officers have spoken to a number of people and have been undertaking enquiries in the area. On Tuesday we arrested a 19-year-old man, from the Llanbradach area, on suspicion of assault and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He is currently being questioned. We have also seized a car as part of our ongoing investigation."
