Metro workers are determined to solve the mystery of a wedding dress left on a train and reunite it with its owner. The beautiful long bridal dress was found on June 10 and handed in to a driver at around 7:50 PM at Pelaw in Gateshead. It has since been stored at Metro's lost property office.
Appeal for Information
Staff are intrigued by the "exceptionally rare" lost item and have appealed to the public for help. In a Facebook post, they wrote: "We never really know what to expect in our lost property, but this is a first. Most people leave backpacks, phones or umbrellas, but someone has lost a wedding dress!" They added: "We've been playing the guessing game of what could have possibly happened - Runaway bride? Theatre costume? Extreme brain fog? We'd love to know!"
Official Statement
Lynne Dickinson, Station Delivery Manager at Nexus, said: "This is a lovely wedding dress which, sadly, someone has left on board one of our trains. It's exceptionally rare for us to get an item like this into the Metro lost property office. We're really keen to see if we can get the dress back to its rightful owner." She confirmed the dress was handed in on Wednesday, June 10, around 7:50 PM at Pelaw, and has been safely stored since.
Public Assistance Requested
Staff have appealed through social media for anyone who recognises the dress to contact them. The post concluded: "Moral of the story, always make sure you have your ticket - and your wedding dress - when travelling." Nexus encourages anyone with information to get in touch.
