Kyren Wilson Burgled During Championship League Snooker

World snooker champion Kyren Wilson has withdrawn from the Championship League after his home was burgled while he competed in the tournament on Monday. The 2024 world champion was playing at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester when thieves broke into his house.

Burglary During Match

The 34-year-old started the day with a 3-0 victory over Haydon Pinhey in the 11am start, unaware that his home was being burgled between 11:04am and 11:22am. TW Sports Management, run by his brother Taylor, confirmed the incident in an official statement.

According to Wilson's statement, the offenders were captured on CCTV and stole several items of significant sentimental and financial value. These included a Cartier watch, an Audemars Piguet watch, a ladies' Rolex Datejust with a pink dial, and a blue sapphire necklace bought for his wife to celebrate their 10-year wedding anniversary. Additionally, £2,000 in cash set aside as a donation to the BeMoreFab Children's Cancer Charity was also taken.

Emotional Impact

Wilson described the experience as deeply distressing, not because of the items' value alone but because of the personal memories attached to them. He urged anyone with information or who is offered the stolen items to contact the police. The matter has been reported, and CCTV footage is being reviewed.

Withdrawal and Tournament Impact

The distressing news forced Wilson to end his Championship League campaign after just one match. He withdrew from the remaining group matches, leaving Pinhey, Dylan Emery, and Michal Szubarczyk to compete for the top spot in the group. Wilson's next scheduled appearance is the Shanghai Masters starting July 27. As one of only four top 16 players in the tournament, alongside Zhao Xintong, Si Jiahui, and Chris Wakelin, he had been a favourite to win the trophy.
