Bootle sex shop bids to stay open with late night licence bid

Scandals Adult Store in Bootle has applied for a licence to continue operating as a sex shop, with extended hours that would see it stay open later into the evening. The application is among a series of public notices issued by councils across the Liverpool City Region over the past seven days.

MF Trading Ltd of Faversham House, Old Hall Rd, Bromborough, Wirral CH62 3NX applied on 29.07.2026 to Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council in respect of the premises known as Scandals Adult Store at 304 Derby Road, Bootle, L20 8LN. The application seeks a licence to use the premises as a sex shop under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982.

The intended opening hours are 9am to 8pm Monday to Saturday (inclusive), and 10am to 6pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays. Any person wishing to object to the application should make such objection in writing to The Licensing Unit, Sefton MBC, Magdalen House, 30 Trinity House, Bootle L20 3NJ no later than 28 days after the date of the application, stating the grounds of the objection.

In Wirral, Shop & Go Hamilton Ltd have applied to Wirral Borough Council for a premises licence at 18 Hamilton Street, Birkenhead CH41 1AL to sell alcohol (off sales) 0600-0000 and late night refreshment to 0000 hrs daily. The application is on the website www.wirral.gov.uk/la or can be viewed at the Licensing Authority by appointment. Representations can be made in writing to Licensing, Town Hall, Brighton Street, Wallasey CH44 8ED, or by email to licensing@wirral.gov.uk by 2/9/26.

In Knowsley, Chicken Cabins Ltd have applied under Section 34 of the Licensing Act 2003 to grant a premises licence for KFC Irlam Dr, Hall Lane, Kirkby, Liverpool, L32 8RJ. The application covers late night refreshment every day 23:00 - 03:00, with activity taking place both indoors and outdoors (only offering the drive thru and delivery after 00:00), and recorded music every day 23:00 – 00:00. Representations can be made to Knowsley Council until 03.09.2026.

Liverpool City Council has also published a list of planning applications, including a retrospective application for LED lighting, flag poles, CCTV cameras, menu boards and an internet box at 27 Victoria Street, and a change of use for the former Natwest Bank at 2C Princes Road to a 19-bed aparthotel. Comments on these applications must be received by 3rd September 2026.
