Thomas Markle allegedly kept a stash of books on paedophilia and magazines showing children being sexually abused in his storage unit in Mexico, according to a report.
Last week, Meghan Markle's estranged father was accused of keeping child sexual abuse images at his home in the Philippines, which were discovered and handed to police in Cebu City by his son, Thomas Markle Jr., who cared for his ailing father for four years.
Allegations and police involvement
Mr Markle has denied possessing the images, which allegedly include a 15-minute video of children no older than 10 or 11. It then emerged that, in January 2019, the Metropolitan Police received a letter including allegations of 'offending outside the UK'.
The force confirmed that the Duchess of Sussex and husband Prince Harry were passed the letter 'for their awareness', but details were 'not shared with other law enforcement agencies'.
Storage unit findings
Now, according to a report, a rented unit under Mr Markle's name is said to have stored further illegal material. As well as the books and magazines, the Daily Mail said the findings included 'several loose photographs of naked Asian females'.
The publication confirmed it has reported the 82-year-old to the FBI upon making the discovery while investigating Mr Markle's life in Rosarito Beach. It's alleged he began renting a 5ft by 10ft storage unit in 2017, six years after moving to Rosarito.
A reporter was permitted access to the space, as Mr Markle has failed to keep up with his lease-agreement payments for the past two years. It's claimed he also kept 'family mementoes, photographs, and letters' there, while 35mm negatives showed unexplained images of children on a beach.
Other negatives showed a woman with her limbs 'hogtied' and being directed by a man during a photo shoot. Mr Markle has had several hard drives stripped from computers in the storage unit, which also allegedly contained a paper plate with 'DARK WEB' scribbled in red alongside various URLs.
Additional discoveries are said to have included books titled Forbidden Sexual Behavior and Morality, The Intimate Sex Lives of Famous People, and The Invisible Children, plus Victorian Children, which contains naked images of young girls from the era.
The Mail added that there were more than 50 tapes, one of which was named 'Boys – Brother and Sister – Russian XX', although their contents is unknown. Mr Markle reportedly visited the storage unit 'a couple of times a month' in earlier years and would bring items and take others away. A source said no one else visited with him.
Ongoing investigations and responses
The former Hollywood lighting technician is currently under active investigation by authorities in the Philippines and the United States. Mr Markle, now believed to be living in a rehabilitation centre in Florida, has slammed the allegations piled against him as 'sick lies', insisting he has 'nothing to hide'.
He admitted to the Mail On Sunday that he 'slept with adult prostitutes' when single and travelling, stating, 'I like Asian women, but that is not a crime.' Addressing a 35mm photograph allegedly showing a bearded man resembling Mr Markle having sex with a young Asian girl, he said: 'I have never been in a photograph like that.'
Meghan cut ties with her father in the lead-up to her 2018 wedding; her mother, Doria Ragland, was the only member of her family to attend, while King Charles, then Prince of Wales, walked her down the aisle.
After the allegations came to light this month, the former Suits actress issued a statement, explaining that she broke contact with Mr Markle to 'protect' her children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, whom he's never met. She also said she was 'deeply distressed' by the accusations and gave her thoughts to 'any children who may have been harmed'.
Subsequent revelations noted that, in her final letter to her father, Meghan told him she 'knows he is an abuser' and that he will never see her children. According to The Sun on Sunday, the letter was received by Mr Markle in December 2025, while he was in hospital in the Philippines after having his leg amputated.
