Parts of Victoria Park in Stretford were cordoned off on Tuesday evening as police investigate reports that a teenage girl was sexually assaulted inside the park.
Police response
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said they were called to the park at around 6pm following reports of a sexual assault. Officers taped off a walkway and an area of woodland. The alleged victim is being supported by police, and no arrests have been made.
A GMP statement said: "Greater Manchester Police is investigating a report of sexual assault that occurred shortly before 6pm today (21/07/2026) in Victoria Park, Stretford. No arrests have been made at this time. However, the victim is being supported and detectives are following up multiple lines of enquiry to piece together the full circumstances."

The park is maintained by the Friends of Victoria Park, a group set up in 2003. GMP urged victims of sex crimes to report incidents by calling 101 or 999 in an emergency, or via www.gmp.police.uk. Anonymous reports can be made to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
