Idris Ahmed, 18, has appeared in court accused of stabbing a 17-year-old boy at Barry Island, an attack that led to the victim's leg being amputated below the knee. The defendant pleaded not guilty to all charges during a hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday.
Charges and Plea
Ahmed, of Graham Walk, Riverside, Cardiff, denied charges of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, unlawfully inflicting grievous bodily harm, and possession of a bladed article. He entered his pleas while wearing a grey tracksuit in the dock.
Alleged Incident
The alleged stabbing occurred on May 25, during the bank holiday weekend at Barry Island. The victim, also 17, suffered a wound to his leg that resulted in the lower leg being amputated below the knee. A previous hearing at Cardiff Magistrates' Court described the weapon as “highly dangerous” and the injuries as life-changing.
Court Proceedings
The Recorder of Cardiff, Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke, remanded Ahmed in custody. He is scheduled to stand trial on November 2, with the hearing expected to last 10 days. Members of the alleged victim's family were present in the courtroom and were visibly emotional during the proceedings.
