Emergency services rushed to Ainsworth Road in Radcliffe, Bury, on Monday evening after reports of a stabbing left a man in his 40s with knife wounds. Police and paramedics arrived at the scene around 5:20pm following an assault call, establishing a cordon as investigations began.
Victim Hospitalised, Injuries Not Life-Threatening
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the victim, aged in his 40s, sustained injuries consistent with a knife attack. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. A force spokesperson stated: “Thankfully, the injuries are not deemed life changing or threatening.”
Suspect Arrested on Suspicion of Grievous Bodily Harm
A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 18 offences under the Offences against the Person Act 1861, which covers grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in custody for questioning as police continue their inquiries.
A police spokesperson said: “At around 5:20pm yesterday, officers responded to reports of an assault at Ainsworth Road, Radcliffe. One man aged in his 40s was located with wounds consistent with a knife injury. A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of S.18 Offences against the Person Act 1861 – Grevious Bodily Harm and remains in custody for questioning.”
Ongoing Investigation
Police have not released further details about the circumstances leading to the attack. The cordon on Ainsworth Road has since been lifted, but officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information is urged to contact Greater Manchester Police.
