A learner driver who showed police a false licence has been jailed for eight months.
Mark Linden misled police officers when they stopped him in Old Edinburgh Road, Uddingston, on May 21 this year.
Linden, 36, a prisoner, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday.
Offences admitted
He admitted driving a Ford Fiesta while in possession of a driving licence belonging to another person.
He also admitted having no L plates, driving without supervision and having no insurance cover.
The court heard the car was being driven with false number plates.
Sentence and ban
Defence lawyer Scott Jones said Linden wished to apologise for his actions, adding: “He jeopardised not only his own safety but that of the public.”
Linden had been held in custody since his arrest and the eight-month sentence was backdated, meaning it was likely he would be freed almost immediately.
Sheriff Colin Dunipace also banned him from driving for a year.
