A wanted man has been arrested by police in Wythenshawe after a chase, with dramatic footage released by Greater Manchester Police showing the suspect being handcuffed on the ground. "You know damn well what I'm on about," shouts the officer as he makes the arrest, to which the man replies, "I'm getting you done as soon as I get to the police station, trust me bro."
Arrest details
The man was arrested on Poundswick Lane, near the fire station, on Tuesday morning. He was wanted in connection with an incident on 27 July involving allegations of shoplifting and threats to kill. During attempts to detain him, officers reported being assaulted, with one being punched in the throat and another being bitten on the wrist, before the suspect fled the scene.
On 28 July, the suspect was spotted and attempted to make off on foot but was detained by the officer. During a search, suspected drugs were also found.
In custody
The man was arrested on suspicion of two assaults on police officers, threats to kill, shoplifting and criminal damage. He remains in police custody while investigations continue. No further details or his age have been revealed.
