Teen Dies at Welsh Music Festival, Event Cancelled

An 18-year-old woman has died after falling ill at the Tonnau music festival on Anglesey, leading to the cancellation of the event. Emergency services were called to the Carreglwyd Estate at approximately 1:45 am on Saturday, July 11, 2026, following reports of a person being unwell. The teenager was taken to hospital but sadly passed away.

Police Investigation Underway

North Wales Police are treating the death as unexpected and have informed the coroner. Detective Inspector Iolo Edwards said: “Our thoughts remain with the woman’s family and loved ones at this difficult time. We urge members of the public not to speculate on the circumstances of the death, and anybody with information that could assist our enquiries should contact us via our website or by calling 101, quoting reference O110259.”

Festival Cancelled

Organisers announced the cancellation of the Tonnau Festival, which was scheduled to run from July 10 to 12. In a statement, they said: “Everyone at Tonnau Festival is deeply saddened to confirm that a festival attendee tragically passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning following a severe medical emergency. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the attendee’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.”

The statement added that on-site welfare teams, security, and emergency medical staff responded immediately, but the attendee later died in hospital. “Following this tragedy, and to allow emergency services and local authorities to conduct their necessary work, we made the decision to close the remainder of the festival and have asked people to vacate the site when it is safe for them to do so.”

The festival had been gaining a reputation as one of the best small independent festivals in the UK. Organisers have asked attendees to leave the site by midday on Sunday and are cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.
