Tameside police powers stepped up after anti-social behaviour

Police powers have been stepped up in an area of Tameside following a spate of anti-social behaviour. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) reported that the incidents took place recently in Hattersley, particularly near Stockport Road around the McDonald's and Tesco Extra.

Dispersal order issued

A 48-hour Section 34 dispersal order was issued on Wednesday (October 7). The order gives officers the power to ask anyone to leave the area over the coming days. Police can also confiscate items 'being used or likely being used in anti-social behaviour'.

The order will last until 5.25pm on Friday. Officers will continue to patrol the area and have urged anyone with concerns to speak to them.
